Victoria panicked, her aristocratic composure completely shattering into rabid anger. "You can't use that! That's illegal surveillance in a private home! My husband is a prominent city developer! Do you know who our lawyers are?"
"Your home stopped being private the second it became a federal crime scene, ma'am," Detective Park said coldly. She turned to the uniform officers behind her. "Arrest him. Aggravated domestic assault, torture, and felony reckless endangerment. And cuff the parents too—hand them conspiracy and hindering an investigation charges."

"What?!" Arthur yelled, finally looking away from the television as a heavy steel handcuff clicked tightly around his wrist. "I didn't do anything! I was in the living room!"
"You raised the volume to drown out her screams, Arthur," I spoke up, my voice no longer shaking. I stood up on my own feet, holding the wet towel against my burned skin, looking down at the family that had spent eighteen months trying to break me.

"Every single time he hit me, you turned up the TV," I said, my gaze boring into his soul. "You aren't a bystander. You're an accomplice. And the camera caught you doing it tonight."
Dominic screamed in rage as he was slammed against the marble countertop—the very counter where he had tried to destroy me. The grease from the ruined steak smeared across his expensive designer shirt as the officers dragged him down the hallway in chains, his parents weeping hysterically behind him.
