Chapter 1

PART 2 — The Livestream That Became Evidence
For ten seconds, nobody moved.
The entire boutique stared at the diamond necklace sitting in the security guard’s hand.
To everyone watching…
it looked obvious.
A wealthy-looking woman.
A luxury store.
An expensive necklace hidden inside her bag.
The perfect scandal.
—
Chloe Bennett looked directly into her phone camera.
Her smile grew wider.
She could already imagine the headlines.
”Influencer Exposes Fake Socialite Stealing Diamond.”
She could see the views.
The comments.
The sponsorship offers.
—
“Guys, this is exactly why people need to be careful.”
Her voice became dramatic.
“Sometimes the people who look the most successful are the ones hiding the biggest secrets.”
—
Her followers loved it.
The comments exploded.
”OMG she’s caught!”
”Call the police!”
”Expose her!”
—
Chloe turned the camera toward Elena.
“Do you have anything to say?”
—
Everyone expected Elena to defend herself.
To panic.
To explain.
—
But Elena simply stood there.
Calm.
Silent.
Almost bored.
—
The security manager approached.
“Ma’am, we need you to come with us while we review what happened.”
—
Elena looked at him.
“Of course.”
—
No argument.
No anger.
That confused everyone.
—
Chloe laughed softly.
“Wow.”
She looked at her phone.
“She doesn’t even deny it.”
—
A few customers exchanged uncomfortable looks.
The story seemed obvious.
—
But then Elena said something that changed the entire atmosphere.
—
“May I ask one question?”
The security manager nodded.
“Of course.”
—
Elena pointed toward Chloe’s phone.
“How long have you been livestreaming?”
—
Chloe smiled.
“Since before I discovered the necklace.”
—
Elena nodded.
“Good.”
—
The smile on Chloe’s face slowly faded.
—
“Why?”
Chloe asked.
—
Elena looked around the boutique.
“Because you just preserved the most important piece of evidence.”
—
Silence.
—
The security manager frowned.
“What do you mean?”
—
Elena looked toward the ceiling.
“Your cameras.”
—
Everyone followed her eyes.
—
The boutique had dozens of security cameras.
Small.
Almost invisible.
Placed everywhere.
—
Chloe’s confidence disappeared slightly.
“Security footage doesn’t prove anything.”
—
Elena looked at her.
“Actually…”
“It proves everything.”
—
The security manager immediately turned toward the control room.
“Pull the footage.”
—
Chloe’s expression changed.
“Wait.”
—
The manager walked away.
—
For the first time, Chloe looked nervous.
—
Because she remembered something.
She had been careful.
She had checked that nobody was watching.
She had chosen the right moment.
—
Didn’t she?
—
Thirty seconds later, the security manager returned.
His face was different.
Not confused.
Not angry.
Disappointed.
—
“Ma’am.”
He looked at Chloe.
“We need to discuss something.”
—
The room became quiet.
—
Chloe forced a laugh.
“What?”
—
The manager held a tablet.
“We reviewed the footage.”
—
She crossed her arms.
“And?”
—
He turned the screen around.
—
Everyone saw it.
—
The video showed Elena standing at the jewelry counter.
Looking at the necklace.
Nothing unusual.
—
Then Chloe appeared.
—
The camera angle was perfect.
Clear.
Unmistakable.
—
It showed Chloe looking around.
Checking if anyone was watching.
—
Then her hand reached for the necklace.
—
The entire boutique froze.
—
The video continued.
—
Chloe placed the necklace inside Elena’s open handbag.
—
Then she walked away.
—
Then…
she turned on her livestream.
—
Nobody spoke.
—
Not one person.
—
Because the woman who claimed she exposed a crime…
had just exposed herself.
—
Chloe’s face turned pale.
“No.”
She stepped closer.
“No, that’s edited.”
—
The security manager looked at her.
“It is from our internal system.”
—
She shook her head.
“Someone changed it.”
—
Elena finally spoke.
“That’s an interesting accusation.”
—
Chloe looked at her.
“What?”
—
Elena walked slowly closer.
“You are claiming the store manipulated evidence?”
—
Chloe opened her mouth.
But no words came.
—
Because she realized something.
The same argument she used against Elena…
was now being used against her.
—
Elena looked at her phone.
The livestream was still running.
Thousands of people were watching.
—
“How many viewers do you have right now?”
Elena asked.
—
Chloe didn’t answer.
—
The security manager checked.
“Over eighty thousand.”
—
Elena nodded.
“Good.”
—
She looked directly into the camera.
—
“Then I believe everyone watching deserves to see the entire truth.”
—
The comments began changing.
—
”WAIT WHAT?”
”THE VIDEO SHOWS HER DOING IT!”
”SHE SET HER UP!”
”THIS IS CRAZY!”
—
Chloe quickly reached for her phone.
“I need to end this livestream.”
—
But Elena stopped her.
—
“Why?”
—
Chloe looked at her.
—
Elena smiled.
“The world was watching when you accused me.”
—
A pause.
—
“So they should also watch when the truth arrives.”
—
The boutique doors opened.
A police officer entered.
—
Chloe looked relieved for one second.
“Officer, thank goodness. This woman—”
—
The officer raised his hand.
“Ms. Bennett.”
—
She stopped.
—
“We received the store’s report.”
—
Chloe swallowed.
—
“You are being questioned regarding attempted theft, false accusations, and misuse of recorded media.”
—
Her face completely changed.
—
“This is ridiculous.”
—
She looked toward Elena.
“You think you’ve won?”
—
Elena remained calm.
—
“I didn’t win anything.”
—
She glanced at the phone still recording.
—
“You simply lost the story you created.”
—
The officer escorted Chloe toward the entrance.
—
But before leaving, Chloe turned around.
Her eyes were filled with anger.
Not regret.
—
“You think people like you always win?”
—
Elena watched her.
—
“No.”
—
A pause.
—
“People like me just make sure people like you are finally seen.”
—
Chloe disappeared through the doors.
—
The boutique slowly returned to normal.
—
Customers whispered.
Employees cleaned the counter.
The livestream continued receiving thousands of comments.
—
But Elena didn’t celebrate.
—
Because she knew something.
—
People like Chloe never acted alone.
—
Someone had encouraged her.
Someone had given her information.
Someone wanted Elena humiliated.
—
And when Elena looked down at the security footage one more time…
she noticed something strange.
—
A few minutes before Chloe entered the store…
someone had sent her a message.
—
The name on the screen was visible.
—
And Elena recognized it immediately.
—
Because it belonged to someone who knew her.
Someone who knew exactly where she would be.
—
May you like
Someone close enough to betray her.
