CHAPTER 4 — THE WOMAN WHO REFUSED TO STAY BROKEN
The chairman closed the folder with trembling hands.
"The wedding is over."
"No!" Celeste screamed.
"You can't cancel our wedding!"
He didn't even look at her.
"I'm canceling his future."
Security guards entered the hall.
Not because Mia had called them.
Because the chairman had.
"Mr. Adrian Vale."
Two guards stepped forward.
"Please remain where you are."
The guests pulled out their phones.
Videos spread across social media before anyone could stop them.
Millionaire Groom Accused of Corporate Fraud During Wedding.
Ex-Wife Appears With Secret Baby.
Wedding Turns Into Financial Investigation.
Within minutes, reporters gathered outside the vineyard gates.
Adrian lunged toward Mia.
"You planned this!"
She didn't move.
"I prepared."
"You want revenge!"
"No."
She looked down at her sleeping daughter.
"I wanted the truth."
He reached toward the baby.
"My daughter—"
Mia stepped back.
"No."
His hand froze.
"You don't get to call her that today."
The words were calm.
But devastating.
"You missed her first heartbeat."
"Her first ultrasound."
"Her birth."
"You weren't there when she struggled to breathe for thirty-seven seconds after delivery."
Tears filled Adrian's eyes.
"I didn't know."
"You chose not to know."
Silence.
"You blocked every door I tried to open."

Suddenly, Celeste laughed.
A sharp, desperate laugh.
"You all believe her?"
She pointed at Mia.
"She forged everything!"
Nathan calmly placed one final envelope on the chairman's table.
"This one came directly from the bank this morning."
The chairman opened it.
Inside was surveillance footage printed frame by frame.
There was Celeste.
Entering the bank after business hours.
Meeting with the company's finance manager.
Accepting an envelope.
Another page.
The finance manager's signed confession.
He had already accepted immunity in exchange for testimony.
Celeste's knees nearly gave out.
"No..."
Nathan nodded.
"He confessed yesterday."
Her face turned ghost white.
"He blamed you."
Outside, police cars arrived.
Blue lights flashed across the vineyard windows.
Someone inside whispered,
"They're here."
An officer entered alongside two detectives.
"We're looking for Adrian Vale and Celeste Morgan."
The room became perfectly still.
Celeste grabbed Adrian's sleeve.
"Do something!"
He couldn't.
For the first time in his life...
Money couldn't save him.
Charm couldn't save him.
Lies couldn't save him.
As the officers approached, Mia quietly fastened her daughter's blanket.
She kissed the baby's forehead.
"It's time to go home."
Adrian's voice cracked behind her.
"Mia..."
She paused.
Without turning around.
"Please..."
"My daughter..."
Mia finally looked back.
There was no hatred in her eyes anymore.
Only disappointment.
"When she asks me one day where her father was the day she was born..."
Her words fell gently into the silent room.
"I'll tell her the truth."
"You were too busy preparing another wedding."
She walked toward the exit.
Every guest moved aside, creating a path for her.
Not out of pity.
Out of respect.
May you like
Behind her, Adrian dropped to his knees as the officers placed handcuffs around his wrists.
The wedding music never started again. It was drowned out by the sound of cameras flashing—and by the quiet footsteps of the woman everyone had underestimated walking away with the only future that truly mattered.
