The lights in the legislative chamber were blinding.
Valeria stood at the podium, looking out at the rows of senators and policymakers. She wore a pristine white suit, a symbol of the clinical, uncompromising truth she was about to deliver.
She was there to introduce the final draft of the new health protocols—legislation specifically targeting obstetric violence and the financial exploitation of expectant mothers in private medical facilities.
"For too long, the delivery room has been treated as a profit center, and the mother's body as corporate property," Valeria's voice rang out, clear and steady, echoing through the grand hall. "Coercion is not care. Withholding medical options for financial leverage is a crime. Today, we put a price tag on their malpractice."
The chamber was silent, captivated by the absolute authority radiating from her.
