Chapter 16

Chapter 16: The Raid
Sebastián’s downfall was not a quiet affair.
It happened on a Tuesday morning. The federal agents arrived at his clinic and his luxury apartment simultaneously. They seized hard drives, locked filing cabinets, and escorted him out of his own building in handcuffs, right past the flashing cameras of the local press.
The charges were staggering: corporate embezzlement, tax evasion, and systemic medical fraud.
Sitting in the back of the federal vehicle, Sebastián felt the world collapse around him. He demanded his lawyer. He demanded his phone.
When his lawyer finally arrived at the holding cell hours later, he slid a thick stack of printed evidence across the metal table.
"Who gave them this?" Sebastián hissed, his hands trembling as he looked at the intricate flowcharts of his hidden accounts. "Only an expert could have traced these offshore transfers."
The lawyer looked at him with grim pity.
"The file was submitted anonymously," the lawyer said. "But the methodology... the structural analysis... it has the signature of the best forensic financial consultant in Monterrey."

Sebastián’s blood ran cold.
He realized, with crushing finality, that he had built his own guillotine. And Valeria had just dropped the blade.
