Chapter 2 - THE TRUST REVEALED AND THE RECORDED TRAP
Suddenly, the door opened. Attorney Gabriel Reyes entered, accompanied by a forensic auditor, two security guards, and the company's former CFO. The attorney placed an old wooden box on the table and explained, “Before he died, your father created an irrevocable family trust. He knew his daughter might give up everything for love, so he placed fifty-one percent of the shares, all the patents, and ownership of the parent companies into the trust.”
The man's face paled. The attorney continued, “All you ever got were a few subsidiaries and operating accounts. You never had true control.”
The woman stared at her husband as all his sacrifices flooded back to her. “Before I married you, I managed over 3,000 employees. I built my own company, negotiated multi-million dollar contracts, and never depended on anyone. But you said you wanted a wife who would always put family first. Your mother said a good woman should stay home, have children, and take care of her husband.” Tears began to stream down her face. “I left the board, handed the reins to you, and used my own money to save your family’s failing business. This villa, your car, your mother’s jewelry, and even the money you use to get drunk came from me. But when I was exhausted from raising our son, you called me a burden.”
The man’s voice softened immediately. He reached out and tried to take his wife’s hand. “I knew nothing about the trust. My mother forced me into it. We can still start over.”

However, the auditor opened her tablet and played a recording. The man’s voice came through clearly. “As soon as you sign the power of attorney, transfer the money to the new company. Then we’ll say she has postpartum depression so we can get custody of the baby.” Then the mother-in-law’s voice was heard. “Once we have the child, we can also control his inheritance.”
Mother and son froze. The woman closed her eyes in pain. She had thought they only despised her, but in reality, they had been plotting for a long time to take away her company, her son, and even her dignity.
