Chapter 3 - The Boardroom ExecutionAt 8:45 AM, the top floor of Blackwood Tower in downtown Manhattan was buzzing with intense corporate tension.

The glass-walled atrium was filled with suit-clad executives, billionaire shareholders, and financial reporters. Microphones flashed as rumors circulated that Ethan Blackwood had suffered a sudden medical emergency overnight and that Victor Blackwood would be stepping in to assume total ownership.
Inside the grand executive boardroom, twenty board members sat around a massive oval table made of polished Brazilian rosewood.
At the head of the table sat Richard Vance, Victor’s lead corporate attorney, looking at his gold watch with supreme confidence. Beside him, sitting slightly pale but wearing a tailored thousand-dollar suit, was Victor Blackwood himself.
Victor had managed to secure a temporary four-hour administrative release on procedural grounds, courtesy of corrupt connections within the local magistrate's office. His right wrist was hidden beneath his crisp shirt cuff, concealing the red chafing marks left by federal handcuffs.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the board," Richard Vance announced, knocking his silver pen against his crystal glass to command the room. "It is 8:58 AM. As you know, our Acting Chairman, Mr. Victor Blackwood, has called this emergency session due to the unfortunate, sudden medical incapacitation of Ethan Blackwood."
A soft murmur of concern ripples through the elderly board members.
"Under Section 4 of the Family Trust," Vance continued, sliding a thick document to the center of the table, "in the event of the primary heir's inability to govern, full voting control and executive authority immediately transfer to the senior living trustee. We will now take the formal vote to confirm Victor Blackwood as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer."
"Wait a moment," an elderly board member, Lord Sterling, interrupted, frowning. "Where is Ethan’s personal medical report? We cannot strip a primary heir of his lineage rights without verified clinical proof!"
"The medical records are classified under privacy protocols," Victor spoke up, offering a practiced, sympathetic sigh. "Regrettably, my nephew’s health has declined rapidly overnight. A severe, unpredictable cardiac event. As his uncle, it pains me deeply... but the market waits for no man. We must vote NOW."
"Raise your hands in favor of the transfer," Vance commanded, already raising his own pen.
Victor’s lips began to curl into a victorious, triumphant smirk. Seven years of planning, arson, bribery, and poison were about to pay off in a single tick of the clock.
8:59 AM.
CRASH.
The heavy double mahogany doors of the executive boardroom were blasted open with such explosive force that both handles shattered against the plaster walls.
The twenty board members gasped in terror, several leaping out of their leather chairs.
Through the dust, four tall, imposing men in dark tactical suits stepped into the room, securing both sides of the entrance.
And then, walking calmly through the threshold, came Ethan Blackwood.
He was dressed in a pristine double-breasted suit, his posture tall, imposing, and radiating absolute power. But he was not alone.
Holding his left hand, wearing a beautiful pearl-white dress and a silver locket around her neck, was seven-year-old Lily.
And walking proudly on his right, dressed in a sweeping emerald silk gown, her head held high despite the faint scars on her jawline, was Amelia Blackwood.
The entire boardroom fell into a silence so profound that even the hum of the air conditioning seemed to stop.
Victor’s face went from pale to a horrific, ash-grey ghost. His jaw dropped, his eyes bulging out of his head as if he were seeing demons walk out of hell. "N-No... no... impossible..."
"Good morning, gentlemen," Ethan’s baritone voice echoed across the rosewood table, smooth and deadly as a velvet-sheathed blade. "I apologize for the dramatic entry. I believe my uncle was just telling you about my 'sudden cardiac event'?"
Lord Sterling stood up, his eyes wide with shock and joy. "Ethan?! Amelia?! Good God... you're alive?!"
"We are very much alive, Lord Sterling," Amelia spoke, her voice clear, strong, and echoing with royal dignity. "Though not for lack of trying on the part of the man sitting at the head of this table."
"THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!" Richard Vance shouted, stepping in front of Victor in a frantic attempt to regain control. "This meeting is closed! These people are intruders! Security, clear this room immediately!"
"Security answers to me, Mr. Vance," Ethan replied calmly, gesturing with his hand.
Marcus stepped forward, placing a sealed bio-hazard container directly onto the rosewood table right in front of Victor. Inside the clear container sat the porcelain tea cup from the previous night.
"What... what is that?" another board member asked, leaning back in alarm.
"That," Ethan said, leaning over the table and staring straight into Victor’s trembling eyes, "is a cup of Earl Grey tea containing eighty milligrams of concentrated digitalis—prepared personally by Victor's operative last night at my home."
The room erupted into frantic gasps and murmurs.
"Lies! Pure slander!" Victor shrieked, slamming his fists onto the table, his voice cracking hysterically. "They're impostors! That woman isn't Amelia! That child is a street orphan brought in to steal the company! Vance, call the police!"
Ethan didn't raise his voice. He simply tapped a button on his smart watch.
The massive 100-inch executive presentation screen at the front of the room flickered to life.
Instantly, high-definition audio and video played through the boardroom speakers:
The video feed showed the secret North District Annexe from three hours prior. Victor Blackwood stood over Amelia’s hospital bed, holding a syringe, his voice crystal clear: "Ethan is currently enjoying his bedtime tea at the mansion. In about fifteen minutes, his heart will give out. By morning, the paramedics will declare it a sudden, unfortunate cardiac event..."
The board members gasped in absolute horror. Two female executives covered their mouths, staring at Victor in utter disgust.
"Furthermore," Ethan continued, as the screen shifted to display thousands of financial audit documents, "here are seven years of offshore bank transactions detailing Victor’s embezzlement of $140 million from the employee pension fund to finance his private illegal medical facilities and bribe state officials."
Victor slumped back into his leather chair, his breath coming in wild, shallow gasps. The illusion was gone. The lies had collapsed. The empire he tried to steal had become his execution block.
Ethan walked up to the head of the table, standing directly over his uncle. He pulled the clear glass container containing the poisoned tea closer to Victor’s trembling hands.
"You told Nora that once I drank this, my wife would be next," Ethan whispered, his voice laced with pure, terrifying fury. "Well, Victor... here is your tea. Drink it."
Victor recoiled in sheer terror, pressing his back against his chair, tears of cowardice spilling down his cheeks. "Ethan... please... I'm your family... I'm your father's brother..."
"My father was a man of honor," Ethan said coldly, standing up to his full height. "You are a monster."
The glass doors opened once more. This time, six Federal Agents from the Department of Justice stepped into the boardroom, led by the Chief Assistant District Attorney.
"Victor Blackwood," the DA announced loudly, presenting a federal arrest warrant. "You are under arrest for attempted murder, arson, kidnapping, corporate fraud, and federal racketeering. Take him."
As the agents slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto Victor's wrists and dragged him out of the room, his pathetic screams echoed down the hallway of Blackwood Tower.

Ethan turned to face the remaining board members. He took Amelia’s hand in his left, and lifted Lily up into his right arm.
Lord Sterling stood up first, raising his hand in applause. Within three seconds, every single board member was on their feet, clapping furiously, honoring the true king of Blackwood Enterprises and the family that had returned from the ashes.
