Chapter 6 - Legacy in the SunOne year later.

The morning sun rose warmly over the private coastal estate in Newport that Ethan had purchased for their family's summer retreat. The ocean waves crashed gently against the golden sands below the grassy cliffs.

On the manicured lawn overlooking the water, a brand-new wooden gazebo stood surrounded by blooming white roses.

Amelia sat on a wooden bench, watching the sea breeze flutter through the pages of the book in her lap. Her health was fully restored, her skin glowing, her smile frequent and radiant.

A few yards away, Ethan was running through the soft grass, chasing Lily and their new Golden Retriever puppy, Buster. Lily’s bright, unfiltered laughter floated across the lawn, echoing joyfully against the cliffside.

"Daddy, catch me!" Lily yelled, her little legs moving fast as she kicked a red soccer ball toward the goal posts Ethan had set up.

Ethan made a dramatic, exaggerated dive into the grass, deliberately missing the ball as Lily scored, cheering triumphantly with her hands in the air.

"Goal!" Lily shouted, running over to jump on Ethan’s back as he lay in the grass, laughing.

Ethan turned over, lifting his eight-year-old daughter into the air and spinning her around before setting her gently on her feet. "You're getting too fast for me, Lily!"

"That's because Mommy says I have your legs!" Lily giggled, running off to chase Buster down the hill toward the beach.

Ethan stood up, dusting the green grass off his trousers, and walked over to the gazebo where Amelia was watching them with a soft, affectionate smile.

He stepped inside the shade, sitting beside her on the bench and wrapping his broad arm around her waist, pulling her close against his side. Amelia rested her head comfortably on his shoulder, intertwining her fingers with his.

"She's so happy, Ethan," Amelia whispered softly, looking down at their daughter playing safely on the golden sand below. "Sometimes I look at her and I can't believe how brave she was... how smart she was to save that locket."

"She has her mother's spirit," Ethan said, turning his head to press a warm, tender kiss to Amelia's lips. "And she has a lifetime of sunlit mornings ahead of her."

Amelia smiled into the kiss, resting her hand over Ethan's heart—feeling the steady, strong, uninterrupted rhythm of a life that had been saved by love.

In the distance, the sun climbed higher into the clear blue sky, casting a warm, brilliant light over the ocean. The darkness, the poison, the fires, and the lies were gone forever, replaced by an enduring legacy of truth, protection, and an unbreakable family love that would last for generations to come.
