# FINAL CHAPTER – THE TRUTH

# FINAL CHAPTER – THE TRUTH
No one spoke.
Emily looked at the woman in front of her.
The same hair.
The same eyes.
The same face.
As if looking in a mirror.
"No..."
Emily recoiled.
"This can't be true."
The woman stepped down from the bed.
Smiling.
"You always thought you were Emily Carter."
"But you never wondered..."
"...who told you that?"
Daniel pointed his gun.
"Don't come any closer."
The woman showed no fear.
"I am Emily Carter."
"And she..."
She pointed at Emily.
"...is just someone created to carry my memories."
Emily felt her world collapse.
"Who...am I?"
Just then, the door behind her burst open.
Jonathan walked in.
This time, he wasn't playing the role of the grieving husband.
His black suit had been replaced with a white blouse.
His gaze was cold.
"It's time to end this."
Emily turned to him.
"Why?"
Jonathan sighed.
"Because the truth is always expensive."
He looked around the room.
"Twenty years ago, Emily's family corporation developed a secret project."
"The goal wasn't to create weapons."
"Instead, it was to find a way to heal severe psychological trauma by restructuring memories."
"The initial idea was very humane."
"But then..."
"Someone realized that if memories could be erased..."
"...it could also create a completely new person."
Daniel gritted his teeth.
"You turned people into test subjects."
Jonathan nodded.
"That's right."
"Hundreds of people."
"They didn't die."
"They just had their lives stolen."
Emily trembled.
"So I..."
Jonathan looked at her.
"You were implanted with all of Emily Carter's memories."
"You believe you are her."
"You love people you've never met."
"You cry for memories that never belonged to you."
Emily collapsed.
All the memories in her head shattered.
But then...
A hand rested on her shoulder.
It was the woman who looked exactly like her.
"Listen to me."
"I don't care how you were born."
"You lived."
"You loved."
"You suffered."
"That makes you a human being."
"Not an experiment."
Emily looked up.
Tears streamed down her face.
"How can you forgive me?"
The woman smiled.
"I don't need forgiveness."
"Because you never took my life."
"They took both of us."
Behind her, Jonathan slowly raised his gun.
"Such touching feelings."
"But it all has to end."
A gunshot rang out.
BANG!
Jonathan froze.
The bullet didn't come from his gun.
But from behind.
Dr. Harris stood in the door.
The gun in his hand was still smoking.
Jonathan looked down at the bloodstain on his chest.
"Sir..."
Harris was calm.
"Every secret has its day, buried with its master."
Jonathan fell.
But before he died...
He laughed.
"Everyone thinks..."
"...that it's all over?"
He took a small remote control from his pocket.
He pressed a button.
Alarm sirens blared throughout the facility.
A computer voice spoke.
SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATED.
TEN MINUTES REMAINING.
Daniel yelled.
"Everyone run!"
They dashed through the shaking corridors.
Dozens of doors opened automatically.
Then hundreds of people emerged from the cells.
There were elderly people.
There were children.
There were people whose families had held funerals for them years ago.
There were people weeping as they embraced the light for the first time in decades.
Noah turned to look at Emily.
"You promised."
"We'll get out together."
Emily smiled.
"Yes."
The group ran to the surface.
Just as they rushed out of the last gate...
A terrible explosion ripped through the night.
Flames blazed high.
The entire underground facility collapsed.
...
Three months later.
The largest trial in the city's history took place.
Hundreds of victims were confirmed alive.
Families who had placed flowers on their loved ones' graves now embraced them in tears.
Dr. Harris and many of his accomplices were arrested.
Those behind the project were brought to light one by one.
Emily stood before the old cemetery.
The coffin that had once buried her was now placed under an oak tree as a testament.
She placed a white flower on it.
A woman with a face like hers approached.
"Where are you going today?"
Emily looked at the clear blue sky.
"To find my life."
"And you?"
The woman smiled.
"Me too."
They looked at each other.
No longer the original or the copy.
No longer the past or the experiment.
Only two survivors remained.
They turned and walked away.
Leaving behind the cemetery...
The place where the truth was buried.

## EPILOGUE
One year later.
A worker was demolishing the remains of the underground facility.
He discovered a steel room that had never been opened.
Inside, only a computer was still running, powered by a backup power supply.
The screen lit up.
A line of text appeared.
> PROJECT GARDEN
>
> PRIMARY FACILITY: TERMINATED
>
> SECONDARY FACILITY: ACTIVE
>
> LOCATION: CLASSIFIED

Then the screen turned black.
